Survival Mode is the fourth episode of the ABC original series, High Potential. It aired on October 15, 2024, and the next day on Hulu.

Synopsis

Morgan is excited to get her official LAPD badge despite Karadec’s reluctance. The detectives work tirelessly on an emotional missing children case, which hits close to home for Morgan and sends her mind into overdrive.

Plot

Two kids have been kidnapped. The mom is frantic. Their dad picked them up but did not return them so she assumed they were at his house but they were not. She asks for help from the police and Morgan with her new badge is on the case. Morgan and Karadec find the dad's house empty but a favorite bunny tossed in the bushes suggests the kids were there and left in a hurry. The duo investigates the greenhouse to find a freshly buried deceased father under some newly planted vegetables. He was murdered. The mom claimed to know nothing about it. Upon Morgan reviewing the child services report, she finds the entire thing is made up of lies so they question the social worker who meets the description of a woman who the father met while selling his vegetables and who he had a fight with. The woman was the woman and she was paid to write those things in exchange to being given a trip to Hawaii and to stay in the father-in-law's hotel. She said the father confronted her about it and told her that he was going to stop the father-in-law and had the proof to show he was paying off many other people not just her. That lead them to arrest the father-in-law. When Karadec questions him, he gives up the name of the man who makes all his problems goes away. He is arrested but the girls are not found. After questioning the suspect, he denies that he killed the father but instead said the mother was there visiting him before he died. So all roads led back to the mother. The mother is being blackmailed to give the kidnapper money or they will kill the girls. Morgan agrees to not involve the police and instead goes with the mother. She doesn't keep her promise and instead calls Karadec. The money is given but the girls are not there and are no where to be found. Morgan does find the kidnapper though. She saves the day bringing home the kids to their mother.
