Daphne Forrester

Daphne "Daph" Forrester is a main character in the ABC series, High Potential. She is portrayed by Javicia Leslie.

Daphne is Karadec's partner and a rising star junior detective in Major Crimes who is not afraid of anything or anyone. She admires Karadec’s investigative acumen and hopes to follow in Lieutenant Soto’s footsteps.

Season 1[]

In "Survival Mode", Daphne shares with Selena, Karadec and Lev that she found a photo. The photo is of two older people. The group wants to know if this is his parents. She is to find out. Daphne is looking for her child protective services report which Morgan has taken off her desk and is reviewing it to find out it was wrong. It states the father is a bad father but he is not. The entire thing is wrong. Daphne interrupts the group talking about suspects to inform the group that Mia withdrew money before the bank closed and now they don't know where she is. Daphne is asked to move Mia's picture over to the suspect board.

In "Croaked",  Oz and Daphne are put in charge of the scene of the dead vet while a tranquilized Karadec and Morgan have another case to go to.  She confirmed the first suspect's alibi. Meanwhile Daphne and Oz are working on their vet case. Her reviews to her clinic is great until 6 months ago when the reviews went awful. He wrote that she is a monster and needed to be stopped. The suspect said she killed her spider for a routine exam he has tattooed on his chest. He said he didn't kill her just ruined her reputation. He said he followed her home one night and scared her. He followed her to an apartment in Hollywood which is not her home.

Oz said he doesn't care about what Karadec thinks. Daphne does. Thinking they see a man with a gun, they bust into the building only to find Karadec and Morgan who claims she had been promised to call for back up next time. Morgan finds a room of exotic animals and they recognize the spider the man said was killed. Turns otu the vet was an exotic animal trafficking. Morgan put together why she needed money and said she needed it for a house with bees for the mother and her son. Daphne came in interrupting Oz with the victim's mom and said the whole story which Daphne overheard. That the victim AKA her daughter, was the mother to the kid. She was upset and left. She later on helps Oz to return the spider to its owner who is happy.

In "One of Us", Daphne was labeled as Morgan's favorite when Morgan was giving a tour to her daughter, Ava. After the group was kidnapped, Daphne was chosen as the one to make the call telling everyone to leave the building as they were at gunpoint and they had bombs. Daphne and Morgan stayed close together. When Tom is shot, Daphne quickly helps Morgan to stop the bleeding. When the gunman finally went crazy towards the end and was going to pull the gun's trigger, Daphne was the one who managed to drop the man down to the ground and arrest him.

In "The RAMS",  Daphne is with the team searching for the car which has run over the victim twice. Morgan took care of that. Daphne quickly started processing the car and notices it had a bent fender and chipped paint. Daphne and Oz go to talk to Phil the neighbor of the victim. When they arrive, he's in a boot and announces he does not like his neighbor. He was bitter and complained about a barking dog that was killed by treats and trees that died by copper nails. He claims he had nothing to do with those things despite being sued. He has an alibi.

Daphne is staring at the list of car places with the correct version of the car. As she's talking Karadec about it she realizes that the neighbor had been lying. One of the LLC is his name. They go to arrest him.

In "Chutes and Murders", Oz and Daphne have to interview the nannies about the murdered nanny. They find out the nanny was nice but kept to herself but there was a 'creepy guy' hanging around the playground. Daphne took over the victim's phone as Oz had to deal with the photos and the photographer PI.

Back at the station, the crew is looking for clues. Oz pulls up some photos suggesting to look at a husband. Sure enough Morgan notices that the victim is wearing that husband's sweat shirt. Selena sent Daphne over to meet with the guy to find out what his relationship with Tara was.   

In "The Sauna at the End of the Stairs", Daphne and Oz are asked to keep the station going while Selena and the others go investigate a closed case. A family member shows up as a reporter and tries to get them to talk. They refuse but she said the confession isn't real. So she tells them about the fact he wouldn't have waited years before confessing if he had done it. She also told them that they will lie to protect each other and they won't be able to break them. They talk to her about the family dinner and she said there was bruises on a lady who caught on fire. Oz and Daphne try to call Karadec to tell him but he doesn't pick up. Then Detective Melon comes down the hall asking why the reporter family member is here. The family reporter continued her story, the fire lady couldn't sleep with the victim so she offered to go get her things out of her room while someone else helped her get new clothes. She said Barry was watching TV when she walked in and he threw the fire lady's clothes at her and she took them and that was the last she saw of Barry. She didn't like the smell of a candle lit so she went outside to see someone selling drugs to the son.

Personality[]

Daphne is very intelligent, quick-witted, has a good sense of humor, and very focused on her job. She is a perfectionist and wants to be the best in her unit, which often shows as a competitive nature. Her perfectionism and attention to detail made her notice when even one lollipop was missing from her desk.
